Each year, the ViVE conference gives healthcare leaders the opportunity to convene and share ideas. The event also gives them the chance to announce news — oftentimes about new products, research or partnerships.

Below are seven noteworthy announcements made during this year’s ViVE conference in Nashville.

MultiPlan rebrands as Claritev

Publicly-traded data analytics firm MultiPlan rebranded as Claritev amidst a scandal concerning alleged price-fixing.

Last April, the American Hospital Association called for the U.S. Department of Labor to probe into the business practices of MultiPlan. This move came shortly after The New York Times published an extensive investigative report revealing that the company works with major payers to negotiate reduced reimbursements for out-of-network medical providers — and that this practice ends up costing patients and employers.

In the past year, MultiPlan was also named in several other lawsuits, which have been consolidated in an Illinois district court.

Abridge raises $250 million

Clinical documentation AI startup Abridge closed a $250 million Series D investment round and announced that it has now surpassed 100 deployments at health systems across the country.

Abridge’s technology listens in on appointments, creates a transcript and generates a clinical note for physicians to edit in the EHR. The company said that its new round of capital will help it grow commercially and add more AI capabilities to its product.

Innovaccer launches line of AI agents

Healthcare AI company Innovaccer unveiled a suite of eight AI agents. These agents, which are currently available to existing customers, can complete tasks such as appointment scheduling, referrals and coding.

Five health systems are currently using Innovaccer’s AI agents, CEO Abhinav Shashank said in an interview.

Lumeris releases AI tool for primary care teams

Value-based care enablement company Lumeris launched an AI tool to reduce the administrative burden on primary care teams and improve patient access.

The tool, named Tom, integrates into clinical workflows to help with tasks like care coordination, chronic disease management and patient outreach. Ultimately, the company said the goal of Tom is to expand the primary care team’s reach deeper into areas like preventive care, social determinants of health and population health.

UPMC Enterprises soft-launches virtual AI evaluation environment

UPMC Enterprises — the innovation and commercialization arm of Pittsburgh-based health system UPMC — soft-launched a virtual environment to evaluate and tweak AI models.

The virtual environment, named Ahavi, allows hospitals to test the accuracy and efficacy of AI tools on de-identified patient data before they are ever deployed on real-world patients, explained Jeff Jones, senior vice president of product development at UPMC Enterprises, in an interview.

IKS Health unveils AI scribe

Healthcare technology company IKS Health launched a generative AI tool that produces clinical documentation notes during provider-patient encounters.

The tool, named Scribble Now, aims to help reduce providers’ administrative workload, as well as help them focus more on their patients during appointments.

Symplr launches new operations platform

Healthcare software company Symplr released a new operations platform designed to help healthcare organizations unify disparate systems into one.

The platform seeks to provide healthcare leaders with more standardized processes that they can easily maintain and measure. It is built on AWS’ cloud infrastructure and will incorporate the tech giant’s new generative AI capabilities.
