“When blood sugars are poorly regulated after consuming a carbohydrate-heavy meal, snack, or sugary beverage, an individual could also be hit with post-meal fatigue, temper swings, or much more cravings,” says Crouch. “When this occurs, it is as a result of the insulin response overshoots the mark, bringing sugars down a little bit too far and leading to intense cravings for sweets to boost blood sugars again up. This turns into a vicious cycle that may result in decrease insulin sensitivity.”
