Diego Lopes Workout Routine
Diego Lopes comes from a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu background, holding a black belt and training for decades. We’ve all seen him showcase some of his training for Alexander, and he looks in perfect fighting condition. So, what exactly does he do to stay in that shape?
Well, his training routine consists of a personalized plan combining various exercises, from grappling work to mat work, from sparring and shadowboxing to weightlifting and stretching. You’ve probably seen some of his Instagram reels that he has shared, giving a glimpse into his workout routine. However, as I mentioned, he works with a personal trainer, so it’s difficult to find his entire routine. Still, I can give you a basic idea of what his routine would look like.

Diego Lopes Workout Routine
MMA Training
Diego Lopes focuses more on MMA-style workouts and mat and ring routines during his training camp to stay sharp and ready for an actual match. These sessions can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours a day. We’ve seen different fighters talk about how they sometimes start in the afternoon, take a few recovery breaks, and continue training until the evening, focusing solely on MMA circuits.
Â
Cardio
Fighters in the featherweight or lightweight divisions have to be very careful with their weight, so cardio becomes a necessity. I’m sure we all remember Khabib Nurmagomedov sharing how his team could cut up to 2-5 kg in just one day through cardio and water restriction. That sounds crazy, but it’s a common practice among UFC fighters during camp, especially before weigh-ins. So, cardio is a huge part of the routine for UFC fighters.
Â
Weight Training
Although Diego Lopes competes in the featherweight class and likely doesn’t focus heavily on classic weight training, there are still modified exercises that help him stay in shape during the off-season. As I mentioned earlier, Diego Lopes works with his coaches, who design and modify specific exercises for him.
Â
Stretching
Being flexible, agile, and mobile in the ring is a huge advantage for any fighter. If your body is stiff, you’re more susceptible to getting trapped in submissions, and your body won’t be able to handle the stretch. So, stretching is an essential part of any UFC fighter’s training. Pre- and post-session stretching is a big part of Diego Lopes’ workout as well. You can check out a few YouTube videos on stretching for MMA fighters to learn how to stretch properly.

Diego Lopes Diet Plan
I did some research on what Diego Lopes eats, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find much information about his current camp diet. However, I did find that he loves eating bread, and his favorite cheat meal in LA is Wahlburgers—a massive 3-4 layer burger filled with sauce, lettuce, pickles, and more.
Besides that, what does he eat? Well, I would guess fruits and enough carbs to maintain energy without gaining unnecessary weight. Most fighters mention that their training camp diet is always simple and boring, consisting mainly of chicken, broccoli, asparagus, avocado, rice, veggies, fruits, yogurt, etc. Some of them include beef or other types of lean meat, but not daily.
So, I would recommend finding a nutritionist to determine the best diet plan for you. Let’s be honest—only a nutritionist can truly tell you what’s good for your diet based on your body.
