Transportation is a disability rights issue. Everyone deserves transportation options that are safe, accessible, reliable, and connected. When we build for cars, not people, we force non-drivers to navigate communities that weren’t designed for them.

Theresa’s Experience as a Non-Driver

In a new video collaboration produced with Disability Rights Montana, resident Theresa is a non-driver who takes us through the many challenges she experiences just on her daily commute.

To get around in her wheelchair, Theresa must cross dangerous roads and navigate around truck trailer hitches and uneven sidewalks that threaten her safety. Theresa, who has been hit by a car while crossing the street, shares her thoughts along the way.

Disability Rights Montana is working to make sure disabled Montanans are included in every part of life — especially where they are most overlooked, such as in street design and traffic safety.

Disability Rights Montana is joining Week Without Driving from September 29–October 5, 2025. Week Without Driving is a nationwide campaign to encourage everyone to experience what it’s like to move without driving and advocate for more accessible, inclusive transportation for all.

Join the movement by signing up for Week Without Driving here and share your story on social media using #WeekWithoutDriving.
